How to play Mahjong Connect

Mahjong Connect — also known as Shisen-Sho, Kyodai or Onet — is a matching puzzle played with real mahjong tiles. Remove every pair from the board before the clock makes you feel slow.

Steps

  1. Click two identical tiles to remove them.
  2. They can be linked only by a line with no more than two turns, passing through empty space.
  3. The empty border around the board counts as free space and can be part of the path.
  4. Clear every tile to win. If no move is left, the board reshuffles automatically.

Tips that actually help

What is Mahjong Connect?

Mahjong Connect is a single-player matching puzzle built from a standard set of mahjong tiles. All tiles lie face up in one flat layer. You remove them in pairs, but a pair can only be removed when a line can be drawn between the two tiles that turns at most twice and crosses only empty space.

Where the name comes from

The game appears under several names. Shisen-Sho is the Japanese original, Kyodai and Onet are common in browser collections, and Mahjong Link or Mahjong Chain are used by many portals. They all describe the same rule: connect two identical tiles with a short path.

How it differs from mahjong solitaire

Mahjong solitaire stacks tiles in layers and a tile is only free when nothing sits on top and one side is open. Mahjong Connect uses a single flat layer, so every tile is reachable — the challenge is purely the path, not the stacking. Connect usually feels faster; solitaire feels more strategic.
